Fabric Requirements: 

1 Yd. Color #1 (Blue) for  Strips and 2 Borders

1 Yd. Color #2 (Red) for Strips and 2 Borders

1 1/3 yds. Color #3 (Yellow) for Strips and Binding

Twin Size Batting

3 Yds Lining

*Walking Foot, Optional

 

Cutting Instructions:

From Color #1 (Blue):  Cut 6 Strips – 3” x Width of Fabric (WOF)

                                      Cut 3 Strips - 5” x WOF for Right & Bottom Borders

From Color #2 (Red):   Cut 6 Strips – 2 ½” x WOF

  Cut 3 Strips – 5” x WOF for Left & Top Borders

From Color #3 (Yellow):  Cut 6 Strips – 3” x WOF

                                      Cut 4 Strips – 2 ½” x WOF

                                      Cut 6 Strips – 2 Ό” x WOF for Binding (Set Aside)

 

Assembly:  USE A SCANT Ό” SEAM ALLOWANCE

First assemble the Blue/Yellow 3” Strips, 2 Yellow, 2 Blue.  Using your walking foot attachment, stitch alternating strips—blue/yellow/blue/yellow as shown:  Press seams toward the Blue.  Make three sets of 4 strips.  Trim the ends so that the entire strip measures 10 ½” x 42 ½”.

 

 MAKE 3

 

Next assemble the Red/Yellow 2 ½” strips in the same manner, 3 Red, 2 Yellow as shown.  Press the seams toward the Red.  Make 2 sets.  Trim the ends so that it also measures 10 ½” x 42 ½”.

 

  MAKE 2

Next join the strips together, alternating color sets as shown. 

 

Join your Blue border strips together end to end.  Stitch on one side and trim off even. 

Join your Red border strips together end to end.  Stitch on the other side, and trim off.

Then add your top borders (Using the remaining border strips)—one red and one blue as shown.
