Darcy comes to T-Town!
Tulsa was privileged to have Darcy Ashton hold a workshop last month at Just Quilt It!
Darcy has a selection of retail patterns that are in high demand. Her use of "down-home" colors and fabrics in her quilts makes her patterns widely appealing. She recently has had her patterns added into the Keepsake Catalog.
The picture above was taken during her workshop on her Grandma's Bunnies book. Yesssss, that's her quilt top hanging on the back wall. Aren't those bunnies adorable? Here's another picture of it and the cover of her book: 30 bunnies in all.

Here's her Baby Bunnies:

Here's her Paper Cut Valentines: She will be holding a workshop on these on July 26.

Here's her Gingham Dogs and Calico Cats (workshop on August 23):

She has a brand new book coming out mid July. It is the 3 Little Kittens Who Lost Their Mittens. It has 5 projects in the book and will be in the Keepsake Quilting Fall Catalog. And she is scheduled to teach the Mittens class from this book here in late fall and in Oklahoma City in November.

These are just a few of Darcy's patterns. You can order these (kits, too) online from Just Quilt It or Quilter's Warehouse.com or locally at Just Quilt It!, 81st & Harvard, Tulsa.

What's New?
Well, the 5th in the Short N' Scrappy quilt series is on the free block of the month page. Caddo River is the name of it. Kinda' looks like the Caddo, doesn't it? I remember swimming in that river when I was a little girl (longgggg time ago) when it was as clear as glass. We still hope to have this series available for purchase very soon.
Oh, Yeah, almost forgot. I had an "itch" to appliqué. A really BAD itch. So here's how I scratched it:
Should have taken a close up for ya'. It has some star-shaped beads on the rim of the vase, and some sequins and blue rhinestones in the center of the little blue flowers. Made this for a friend.
Karen Combs has a fabric collection out right now that is combinations of colors in wide stripes. I used her green fabric for the stems and leaves. Just a quarter of a yard yields a good amount of 4 shades of green. This is great for people who appliqué. She also designed it in other colors, pinks, purples, etc. The fabric is produced by Clearwater Fabrics. Each fabric gradates from light to dark across the width, so you get 11" of each of 4 colors. Solves the problem of trying to find a "light, medum, and dark" color all the time!

I sure sound like a commercial. In fact this whole newsletter does! Well, I just like to share good things with my friends! :-)
May you always have a quilt in the hoop, I try to.

Cya,
Claudia
