What's New???
This is the second project in the "Absolute Beginners" pattern series called, Blue Winter. This time of year that name fits, huh.
It's a simple 2-block quilt. We did our best to keep these projects small enough as not to overwhelm anyone who might think they were too large for a "first" project. This one measures 41" x 53". You won't have to piece the lining on this one. It doesn't have to be blue either. A 2 or 3-color scheme would work easily too. Even scrappy would work.
Big Block Quilt
Now THAT's a terrible picture of it! But that's all I had to work with, since I didn't think you wanted to see my husband's fingers on top and big feet at the bottom, I had to do some picture doctoring.
Seriously, though, this is a basic layout for those pieces you don't want to cut up. This would look great in jungle animal prints, and really, really fast too! Novelty, big prints are great in this easy thing. Measures 50" x 65". Mine is Christmas prints and machine quilted with gold metallic thread.
Mine Shaft
This one was great fun! Just 3 colors and quick strip piecing. I used the black/red/gold scheme, but I can see this in soft pastels too for baby...or using red/white/blue prints.....or stripes and polka dots. It measures 42" square.
Sweet Baby
A 9-Patch and Snowball, what could be easier than that? This would be great in flannel too. I used a sweet little reproduction print for the background behind the blues. Measures 40" square.
