This sweet little top is from the Absolute Beginner series (#4). I chose to use 30's reproductions and do some simple appliqued hearts here and there. The nice ladies at the Eden Mennonite church now own it and are hand quilting it to auction on Memorial Day at their Children's Day Picnic.
Haven't had much good quality quilting time lately...but did manage to make this top and 2 others this month (all 3 baby size). The 2nd one was another in that series - Mine Shaft - in pastels and the 3rd was a quickly pieced little ocean print with batiks. I call it "Ocean Baby". I'm in the process of machine quilting that one now:
It has the cutest little ocean print in the bigger blocks, and I love batiks!!!!! and had to use them with it.
What Am I Working On?
Well, when I should have been working on my long list, I did those 3 baby quilt tops instead, and haven't touched hardly anything else. So my list is the same, is yours? I have two more projects for a client. And I'm still working on Bob's mourning quilt and also one now for my mother-in-law for her late husband's mourning quilt too. In another project drawer is an appliquéd star cluster quilt for myself. In another is a butterfly block collection to assemble for a client. And the peacock quilt is still in the hand quilting frame.
The Quilt Shoppe Forum News:
Our current block scramble drawing is for heart blocks, all sizes and techniques. The drawing is tomorrow night, May 1. Irish Karen's Kitty Block swap is winding down and now she has the Scotty Dog swap going. There's also a Neutral Block swap just getting fired up.
And Lynn has begun a very unusual mystery swap. She calls it a "Twisted Mystery Swap". Participants sent her packages of fabrics they wanted in a quilt for themselves, then Lynn swapped them out and sent back out to different participants. We are all working on small quilts for someone else, and we have no idea who's quilt it will be. It's very exciting! I know I, myself, received a package of beautiful fabrics to work with and I'm itching to get started this week on something! I don't know what yet, but I've definitely got to scratch!
