Don't They Look Like a Fun Group??
Beverly Blair of the Pike/Lin Quilters of Clarksville, Missouri, sent in these pictures taken at a recent meeting of their quilt guild. "This is the first BOM in our 25 years of being a guild that so many members did the quilt and continued to tell me throughout the project how much they loved doing this one. There were several more, including myself, not pictured...Out of approximately 35 ladies, many did this project for our annual block of the month."
This pattern, "Simple Scrappy Treasures", was a popular one with guilds all over the world. I'm so glad it was enjoyed by so many. I especially enjoy seeing pictures of the finished projects. These Missouri ladies each did their own "thing" and created many colorful quilts, each with their own interpretation. Thanks, Beverly, and all your members! I need to get started on writing another one!!!

We've Been Busy!
I'm still working with Kimberly Simpson and her wonderful vintage blocks, making samples once in a while. I wish you could see her blocks in person. They are gorgeous. They look just like the pages in an old storybook. Be sure and pay a visit to her website, ok?

I'm Out of Practice!!!
Thanks to everyone for their patience waiting for new updates to the newsletter, etc. I'll be up late tonite, trying to get back into the swing of things. First there was the flood May 1. Moving everything into the living room. Then there was carpenters and painters repairing all the damages. They poured concrete in my studio to raise the slab floor about 8". So that means the ceiling is 8" lower--so watch out for the ceiling fan! Actually, it's just about right for me in here, but my 6' No. 4 son has to be careful and duck sometimes, lol. Then there was a really bad case of pneumonia that put me down for about 3 weeks. Then there was moving back into the studio in June. I do NOT recommend anyone moving a computer system and office junk and sewing equipment/supplies--twice!
THEN there was the computer crash in July. This wiped out my hard drive, motherboard was shot. SOooo, I installed a new system. My computer tech friend (she's a GENIUS!), Diana, managed to retrieve my most important files from the old machine. It wasn't an easy task, and I had files all over the place on my new machine. It took at least a month to re-organize files and folders and get to know where things are located. I'm still feeling like I'm on someone else's machine. If anyone didn't get a reply to an email, I'm sorry. There are still networking problems and email problems to work out, but time will take care of that, I hope.
THEN, we had another death in the immediate family. My No. 4 son, Mike, lost his 2nd wife August 1. She had a heart attack, and there was no warning or pre-existing condition. This was devastating. Keep my grandsons on your prayer list, as this is the 2nd time they have lost a mother. She was a dear, sweet person. And I miss her a lot too.
THEN, my little house that I rent and the house next door was put up for sale. I told my mom about it and she said, "I WANT IT!" SOooo, we're suppose to have the closing on both houses at the end of September. YAY!!! I'm so glad I'll never have to move again, lol. She is selling her mountaintop Arkansas home, and moving next door....so much to do! My No. 3 son is getting it all ready for her, painting, cleaning, work, work, work! We've had exterminators, carpet cleaners, and carpenters in and out the last couple of weeks. Now all we have to do is pay for it, lol.

Loose Change News
Le Ann & I will be in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the 11th & 12 for a program and a workshop at the Muskogee quilters' guild. We're looking forward to that!
We just submitted the first project to the publisher for the sequel, Loose Change II, this week. (Look for it in the fall of 2010.) Don't expect me to be updating again next month, 'cause we have a final deadline of January 1 for all 15 of the projects. It's time to get our noses to the grindstone and git 'er done!
Here's a shout out to the gals at the Pryor NE Area Vo Tech! They're working on the Nickel Bricks pattern in their class! Le Ann gave a presentation to their class last month and they were all having a ball ! Have fun, gals!!

Webkinz?????
Am I the only one who absolutely adores Webkinz??? I mean really addicted to it??? Most people my age are hooked on Farm Town on Facebook. But I find that my room and my pet on the Webkinz site is something I really look forward to each day.
My grandsons got me started on it. They come to visit my computer (not me) and I became entwined along with them. I figured why not join in with them and interact with my own pet? I thought perhaps I'd just participate enough to send them gifts and things for their pets.....But no........I'm in it big time now. I have a spotted leopard called Mister Spot...and a Swan called Swoosh (that I haven't even adopted yet). I have a house with a living room, bedroom, bathroom, a back yard and a game room! My living room is all decorated in a jungle theme (Mister Spot IS a leopard ya know). The bedroom has a bed with a quilt on it, a toy box full of fun toys, and a treadmill. The game room is complete with a pool table, air hockey table, two tiger-striped lounging chairs, an interactive jigsaw puzzle, and a super sized tv. And of course the bathroom has a sink and toilet (sound effects included). Then the back yard has a good sized garden with strawberries and pumpkins growing profusely, a barbeque, a hammock for short naps, and a trampoline!
I can't leave for work in the mornings until I make sure my pet is fed and happy, and wealthy. And this also has its benefits at work (the Inola Public Library) because I can relate to the kiddies who come in wagging their little Webkinz pets along with them to use the computers! It's so cute to see them come in with their little stuffed animals and set them right beside the keyboard. And I can share tips with them, and learn something from them as well. Whoever created Webkinz........I love you.
